John Decker

John Decker is an adjunct fellow at the Public Policy Institute of California and a lecturer at the Goldman School of Public Policy, where he teaches budgeting and public finance. He served as deputy state controller (fiscal management) for two California controllers, executive director of the state’s debt commission, and chief fiscal advisor for two California Assembly Speakers and for the Senate Minority Leader. He has also served as a research fellow at the Rockefeller Foundation and UC Berkeley’s Institute of Governmental Studies. He holds an MPP from the University of Michigan.
