Steven Glazer

Steve Glazer is a California state senator, representing District 7 in the San Francisco Bay Area; Senate District 7 is based in northern California’s Contra Costa and Alameda counties. Elected to the California State Senate in a special election in 2015, he won re-election to a full four-year term in 2016 and was reelected in 2020. He is chairman of the Elections and Constitutional Amendment Committee; and serves on the Agriculture; Education; Governmental Organization; and Insurance committees. A former senior advisor to Governor Jerry Brown, he worked with Gov. Brown to help return California to solid financial footing in the midst of the Great Recession. He also served as an appointed California State University trustee, working on limiting tuition increases and lowering administrative costs at CSU. Previously, he served as a city council member and three-time mayor of Orinda. He earned his bachelor’s degree from San Diego State University, where he served as student body president.
